THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT. Pope Francis was questioned about homosexuality early in his tenure. He very appropriately responded with neither theological approval nor disapproval. Instead, he focused on the Church’s call to exercise mercy in all things, and to act as shepherd in gathering God’s sheep: to love one another as Christ loved us. He asked, simply and appropriately, “Who am I to judge?”
